Nashville, TN. (January 7, 2011)—Featuring over 55 races across the state, the 2011 Tennessee Bike Racing Association (TBRA) Racing Schedule was announced this week by TBRA. TBRA is excited to offer its 2011 season of Tennessee’s road and mountain bike races that span the entire state and offer racers of all disciplines and abilities the opportunity to compete.

We are also excited to announce that the State Championship Road Race will take place July 9 at the ETJC Omnium in Piney Flats. Smith & Nephew will host the State Championship Criterium on June 19 in Memphis, Tennessee. TBRA is still in the process of selecting the host for the State Championship Time Trial and we will make an announcement as soon as this decision is final.

The mountain racing season will kick off in March and run through early fall, while the road calendar kicks off with an early season training race in February and extends through August. The cyclocross season begins early fall and continues into February giving racers and spectators a truly year round schedule. Please look for the cyclocross schedule after the completion of the current season.

This race schedule may have some additions and subtractions as we progress, but we felt it was important to give racers the most up to date information that we have as they begin to plan their 2011 race seasons.

The preliminary 2011 TBRA Race Schedule is posted on the TBRA website here.

Racing License

A racing license is mandatory for each racer who enters any event sanctioned by USA Cycling, Inc., the national organization governing bike racing. Among other USA Cycling Member Benefits, a racing license provides minimum insurance for the racer. You can acquire either a “one-day” license or an “annual license.” A “one-day” license is a good purchase option if you are uncertain whether you will enjoy bike racing. However, if you believe you will enter more than a handful of races during the year, it more economical to purchase an annual license. You can purchase an annual license online from USA Cycling (preferred method) or you can buy either an annual license or a “one-day” license at the race venue.

About the Tennessee Bike Racing Association

The Tennessee Bicycle Racing Association (TBRA) is an organization of Tennessee bicycling racing clubs and their members. TBRA exists to help promote, develop, and grow the sport of bicycle racing in the state by helping race directors promote events, helping riders access the sport, and generating enthusiasm in the cycling community at-large. TBRA's volunteer staff, among other things, organizes and maintains finish line equipment for use by TBRA member clubs, administers several season-long race competitions, and attempts to organize the race community across the state.
