STATE CYCLOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP RACE ANNOUNCED
After a 3 year absence and a rotation in both West and East Tennessee, the 2011-2012 Cyclocross State Championship will be returning to Middle Tennessee. The TBRA Cyclocross Director, in agreement with the TBRA Board of Directors has selected the December 18 cyclocross race, presented by UpHillGrind Productions and Road Less Traveled, as the host of the 2011-2012 Cyclocross Race State Championship.
"UpHillGrind Productions and Team Road Less Traveled are excited to be hosting this season's Tennessee State Championship Cyclocross race at Lock 4 Park in Gallatin, on December 18, 2011," said promoter Brian Gant. "Though we’ve held races at this venue before, we’re going to roll out some special course features that no one has seen before and will surely have everyone smiling, or crying. This course will be talked about for years to come, so you’d better make plans now to be there!"
In an effort to add transparency to the site selection process and ensure a quality venue for the racers, the TBRA Board of Directors solicited bids to host the championship race from all interested promoters across the state.
This request for proposal from the promoters included the following criteria:
*** request submitted by November 1 of the preceding year, waved for the 2011-12 season, but will be required for 2012-13
*** held a race on the proposed course during the preceding year or receive TBRA approval
*** coordinated and held a minimum of two race events in the past 5 years
*** course reviewed by the TBRA administrator and approved by the TBRA board
While the race is open to all racers holding an annual or one-day USA Cycling license, only Tennessee residents with an annual license will be eligible for the championship jersey and medals.
