2012 TBRA ROAD SERIES SCHEDULE RELEASED
TBRA is pleased to announce the road race season schedule for 2012. There are 28 race dates on the calendar, with the possibility of a couple of more points events being added. TBRA does expect to add multiple non-points criterium events usually held by TCRC and NashvilleCyclist.
The season kicks off in late February with a non-points event, the Superflossy Road Race. The first TBRA Road Series points event will take place in late March with the epic Hell of the South Road Race. The months of May and June provide the most intense racing action in Tennessee. TBRA welcomes back the Berry Peddler event down in Dayton, and the Cumberland Plateau will once again host the Cookeville Omnium weekend. It was previously feared we would lose the Highland Rim Omnium, but it is scheduled to take place one week later than usual. The season winds down in August with the Oak Ridge Velo Omnium, and finishes on a high note at the challenging River Gorge Omnium in Chattanooga.
Currently, only one championship event has been designated. The Tennessee State Individual Time Trial Championship is back in Lascassas on Saturday, May 26. However, the state road race and state criterium championships will not be announced until after the TBRA board meets on January 22.
"The 2012 schedule should be an exciting and challenging one, not just for Tennesseans but for everyone throughout the Southeast. There is mass appeal considering we have a balance of all disciplines, which should engage racers throughout the whole season. I know the promoters are all eager to provide a fun and memorable racing experience for everyone. I expect 2012 will be a banner year for TBRA," said road director Tim Hall.
The complete road schedule can be seen here.
The 2012 TBRA Mountain Bike schedule is set to be released in the next few days.
